Find the adapter sleeve, nut and washer for a tapered bore bearing before they go in an RFQ.

Series H 2, H 3, H 23, H 31, H 30

Sleeve, nut, washer.

Enter a sleeve, a bearing with a tapered bore, a nut or washer, or a shaft, or pick a sleeve from the list. The shaft you measured can go in the field below: the finder checks it against the sleeve. Below, an offered sleeve can be checked against the result.

Examples:
From the side, to one scale: the shaft, the sleeve with its 1:12 taper and thread, the washer and the nut, the length B1, the shaft d1 and the nut outside diameter. The bearing (dashed), the nut width and the washer are indicative.

Adapter sleeves hold bearings with a tapered bore (spherical roller and self-aligning ball bearings in the housings of fans, pumps and conveyors) on plain shafts, and each sleeve needs its lock nut and lock washer. Enter a sleeve (H 310, H 2310), a bearing (22210 K, 1210 K, 22310 EK), a nut or washer (KM 10, MB 10) or a shaft (shaft 45 mm), or pick a sleeve from the list: the finder gives the shaft and the bearing bore, the bearings the sleeve suits, the sleeve length, the nut with its thread and outside diameter and the washer, draws the sleeve to scale, checks an offered sleeve and writes an RFQ line.

It covers metric sleeves of the H 2, H 3, H 23, H 31 and H 30 series, sizes 04 to 40 (shafts from 17 to 180 mm). Inch sleeves (HA, HE, HS), sleeves above size 40 with HM nuts, the H 39, H 32, H 240 and H 241 series, withdrawal sleeves and sleeves for toroidal bearings are not in this finder. Clearance reduction, drive-up and tightening values are not given here: the bearing maker gives them.

How an adapter sleeve works

Taper, thread, series.

01

The sleeve

A split sleeve with a cylindrical bore for the shaft and a 1:12 taper outside, threaded at its narrow end for the nut. The size number in the designation times five is the bearing bore: H 310 takes a bearing with a 50 mm bore on a 45 mm shaft.

02

The nut and washer

The lock nut KM screws onto the thread of the sleeve and drives the bearing up the taper; the lock washer MB stops the nut from turning. The nut and washer carry the size number of the sleeve. H 30 sleeves take the low nut KML with the washer MBL; the suffix E means a KMFE nut with a locking screw and no washer.

03

Series and bearing width

The series sets the length of the sleeve for the width of the bearing: H 2 for the 12 series, H 3 for 13, 22, 213 and 222, H 23 for 23, 223 and 232, H 31 for 231 and, from size 24, 222, H 30 for 230. H 210, H 310 and H 2310 share the shaft and the nut.

A value or a sleeve, nut and bearing pairing is given only where at least two independent tables give it; what the tables do not agree on is left out. Left out: the sleeves H 321, H 2304 and H 3121 (one table); the thread of sizes 11 to 13 (one table gives M55x1.5, M60x1.5 and M65x1.5 with its own nuts KM 11X1.5 to KM 13X1.5, the others a 2 mm pitch); the nut width (the tables differ); the bearings 1314 K, 2214 K and 2314 K (one table); toroidal, barrel, sealed and insert bearings.

Sources

The values come from four published adapter sleeve tables of bearing and sleeve makers and are given only where at least two of them agree. The nuts are checked against the sleeve tables and a lock nut table, the 1:12 taper against two tables.

Questions about adapter sleeves in an RFQ

What does H 310 mean on an adapter sleeve?

H is an adapter sleeve for a metric shaft. The 3 is the series, which sets the length of the sleeve to suit the width of the bearing; 10 is the size number: the bearing bore is five times it, 50 mm, and the shaft is 45 mm. H 210, H 310 and H 2310 all fit a 45 mm shaft and a 50 mm bearing bore and take the same lock nut KM 10 and lock washer MB 10, but they are 35, 42 and 55 mm long.

Which sleeve goes with a 22210 K bearing?

The K marks a tapered bore. Two tables put the 222 series up to size 22 on H 3 sleeves, so a 22210 K takes H 310 with KM 10 and MB 10; the wider 22310 K takes H 2310. From size 24 the 222 series is listed on H 31 sleeves (22224 K on H 3124). A bearing without the K has a cylindrical bore and does not go on an adapter sleeve.

Can H 2310 take the place of H 310?

It fits the same shaft and takes the same nut, but it is 13 mm longer: it is made for the wider bearings of the 23 and 223 series. Whether the longer sleeve fits depends on the room beside the bearing, so check that before accepting it. A sleeve of a shorter series is too short for this bearing.

How far is the nut done up?

The nut drives the bearing up the taper until its radial internal clearance has been reduced by the amount the bearing maker gives for that bearing. Those values, the axial drive-up and any tightening figures belong to the bearing maker and are not given here: follow the maker's mounting instructions.

What should the request include?

The sleeve with its nut and washer, the shaft and the bearing: adapter sleeve H 310 for a 45 mm shaft (bearing 22210 K), with lock nut KM 10 and lock washer MB 10. If the marking on the old sleeve has worn off, give the bearing designation, measure the shaft and attach a photograph.

Sleeve found?

Send the line with a photograph of the assembly.

A row of the table is a cross-check of sizes, not a part selection. Attach the photograph and the bearing designation, and Vessel Core checks them before an offer goes back.
