Flange type
F and a number: F05, F07, F10 and so on. Flanges F03 to F16 have four bolts on a pitch circle, each type with its own thread: F07 is M8 on a 70 mm circle.
Choose how it was measured and enter the reading. Below the examples, the flange code of an offered actuator can be checked against the reading. The drawing and the RFQ line update with every change.
On the drilling alone: the stem drive (square or double-D), its size and the torque decide.
Quarter-turn valves, ball valves and butterfly valves, meet their pneumatic or electric actuator at an ISO 5211 flange: F05, F07, F10 and the rest. A new actuator has to sit on the same flange. Measure the pitch circle and the bolt thread, and the identifier names the flange type, draws it and writes the RFQ line.
The flange is only the seat. The valve stem drive and the torque the valve needs are given separately, and they decide whether an actuator fits.

The pitch circle is measured centre to centre across opposite holes. Between neighbouring holes is often easier: that reading times the square root of two is the circle.
The stem drive, square or double-D, and its size, the valve torque and the actuator type. The flange alone does not define the actuator.
| Flange | Pitch circle, mm | Between neighbours, mm | Bolts |
|---|---|---|---|
| F03 | 36 | 25.5 | 4 x M5 |
| F04 | 42 | 29.7 | 4 x M5 |
| F05 | 50 | 35.4 | 4 x M6 |
| F07 | 70 | 49.5 | 4 x M8 |
| F10 | 102 | 72.1 | 4 x M10 |
| F12 | 125 | 88.4 | 4 x M12 |
| F14 | 140 | 99 | 4 x M16 |
| F16 | 165 | 116.7 | 4 x M20 |
The spacing between neighbouring holes is the pitch circle over the square root of two, rounded. Flanges F25 and larger, with eight or more bolts, are not covered here.
Pitch circles and threads of flanges F03 to F16: Tameson's "ISO 5211 for valves" and the ISO 5211 flange table on cncontrolvalve, which agree. F25 and larger appear in one source only, and only Tameson ties the drive sizes to the flanges, so neither is given.
Centre to centre across two opposite holes, or from the outer edge of one to the outer edge of the opposite one less one hole diameter. Between two neighbouring holes the reading times the square root of two gives the pitch circle: 49.5 mm between neighbours is the 70 mm circle of F07.
No. The square or double-D drive of the valve stem is a separate dimension; measure it across the flats and quote it with the flange type.
Check the bolt count and thread. Larger actuators use F25 and above, with eight or more bolts, which this tool does not cover, and some older valves have a maker’s own drilling.
The flange type, the stem drive and its size, the torque the valve needs, the actuator type and its air or electric supply, and the valve maker and model.
Identifying the flange is a cross-check, not an actuator selection. Attach photographs of the actuator plate and the stem drive, and Vessel Core checks them before an offer goes back.
