Oily water separator parts supplier

A bilge separator request is usually two requests.

Vessel Core supplies technical buyers with spare parts for oily water separators, bilge water treatment units and the oil content monitors fitted with them.

The plant and its monitor are different items on the same installation, and they fail separately. A request that names only the separator tends to come back with questions, because the measuring cell, the lamp and the sample line belong to the monitor build rather than to the vessel the plant sits in.

Supply scope

Separator and monitor parts we can structure into an RFQ.

Commercially useful spare parts supply coverage for scheduled insert changes, inspection findings and engine-room supply review. Maker names and type codes appear on this page only to identify the equipment on board: Vessel Core holds no dealership, distribution, representation or partnership agreement with DVZ, JOWA, RWO, Sasakura or any other manufacturer, and does not present itself as holding one.

01

Two-stage separators

Bilge water separators working on differential specific gravity, coalescence plates and filtration. JOWA offered the 3SEP in several sizes under one designation, so the size from the unit plate decides the insert and the plate pack rather than the family name; Sasakura PURELIO is the current two-stage line, with a second-stage coalescer designed to come out for servicing without pulling the plant off the vessel.

02

Coalescer plates and plate packs

The coalescing plate pack is the first-stage consumable and follows the unit size. It is renewed on a different interval from the second-stage insert, which is why the two belong on separate lines of the same request rather than in one description.

03

Filter and coalescer inserts

Second-stage filter inserts and coalescer cartridges. State which discharge standard the plant is set for: the insert differs between standards, and on a compact coalescer unit rather than a centrifuge the insert is most of what the plant consumes.

04

Oil content monitors

Measuring cell, lamp or light source, seals and sample-line items. RWO OWS-COM and JOWA Seaguard are both named on their own rather than as part of the separator, because a monitor fails separately from the plant it watches.

05

Continuous bilge monitors

A newer continuous monitor logs discharge data against position rather than reading oil content only at the point of discharge. RWO CBM+ sits alongside OWS-COM rather than replacing it on every installation, so confirm which monitor is actually fitted before the parts are quoted.

06

Automatic discharge valves

The automatic discharge valve and the solenoid valves that work with it. These are the moving items on a plant that otherwise has none, and they are quoted against the unit type rather than the pipe size.

07

Level probes, gaskets and seals

Level probes, gaskets, seals and sample-line fittings. On a plant that has stood idle these are ordered together with the inserts, because opening the vessel to change an insert is when they are reached.

08

Bilge water treatment units

Some plants are bilge water treatment units rather than separators in the older sense. DVZ OILCHIEF and Oilmaster units call for renewal of coalescer and filter inserts, oil content monitor parts, level probes and solenoid valves; on the Oilmaster the letter group after the figure carries the execution, so it belongs in the request as written.

OWS spares by stage

Oily water separator spare parts, stage by stage, from the feed pump to the overboard valve.

A marine OWS spares list is easiest to answer when it follows the water through the plant. Grouping the lines this way also shows what is easily missed: the pump that feeds the separator is a wear item of its own, with its own plate.

Feed pump

  • Pump plate data, sent apart from the separator plate
  • On a progressing cavity pump: stator, rotor, joint parts and shaft seal
  • Suction strainer element where one is fitted

First stage

  • Coalescing plate pack, by the size on the unit plate
  • Oil level or interface probe
  • Oil discharge valve and its solenoid
  • Cover gasket

Second stage

  • Filter insert or coalescer cartridge for the discharge standard set
  • Adsorption cartridges where the plant has them
  • Gaskets reached when the insert is changed

Monitoring and discharge

  • Measuring cell of the 15 ppm bilge alarm, with the date of its last calibration certificate
  • Sample-line and flushing valve items
  • Three-way valve of the automatic stopping device

The feed pump matters more than its size suggests. A pump that shears oily water breaks the oil into smaller droplets, which coalescer plates and inserts then separate less well; that is why a low-shear design such as a progressing cavity pump is preferred ahead of a separator. Pump parts are quoted from the pump's own plate, and the Allweiler and NETZSCH pages cover two makers of eccentric-screw pumps.

ModelSeriesMakerTypical parts
OMD-24OMD-24 · 15 ppm bilge alarmDeckmaTwo separate items: a computer unit that shows the reading and gives the alarm, and a measuring cell fed with water from the separator outlet. Each has its own label and serial, and the cell can be ordered on its own. As MEPC.107(49) requires, the alarm also records the operating status of the separator, so a gap in the log can sit on the separator side.
OMD-2008OMD-2008 · 15 ppm bilge alarmDeckmaA computer unit with a measuring cell, like the OMD-24. Letters after the number on the label are part of the type and are copied with it, together with the serial of the computer unit and the number of the cell. The label, not the age of the ship, decides what is fitted.
OMD-2005OMD-2005 · 15 ppm bilge alarmDeckmaA Deckma type with three items on the request side: a computer unit with a memory card for the data log, a measuring cell and a valve assembly. Each is identified from its own label before a line is opened.
OWSAN-0.5 · OWSAN-1 · OWSAN-2.5 · OWSAN-5 · OWSAN-7.5 · OWSAN-10OWSAN · two-stage separatorDetegasaThe two-stage bilge separator in Detegasa's current brochure: a coalescent filter in the first stage separates free oil by gravity, and an adsorption filter in the second stage breaks emulsions, with a suction-type pump feeding the unit. Adsorption cartridges, the coalescent filter element, suction pump wear parts and monitor items are the recurring lines; the figure after OWSAN is the size and belongs in the request.
OWSAN-POWSAN · integrated monitorDetegasaThe newer OWSAN model, whose control panel integrates the oil monitor and the operator interface. On a -P unit the monitor items are quoted against the panel rather than as a separate bilge alarm, alongside the same cartridge and filter lines as the OWSAN.
DELTA OWSADELTA · two-stage, adsorptionDetegasaA DELTA-type two-stage design built to IMO MEPC.107(49): a gravity static separator followed by an adsorption stage. Adsorption cartridges, pneumatic valve items for oil discharge, overboard, recirculation and adsorption bypass, the flushing solenoid valve and the 15 ppm bilge alarm monitor parts are the recurring lines.
DELTA OWSDELTA · single separatorDetegasaThe older separator built to IMO MEPC.60(33), with a tank and internals, a pump, pneumatic valves and electrode-controlled oil discharge. The oil content monitor was an option on this build, so confirm whether one is fitted before monitor parts are listed.
STPN · DELTA STPNSTPN · biological sewage plantDetegasaAerobic biological sewage plant for black and grey water, offered in modular or containerised versions and suited to vacuum or gravity collection. Air blower items, the effluent discharge pump, dosing equipment where chemical disinfection is fitted, and level and control items are the usual lines; send the plant figure from the plate as written.
PRBN · DELTA PRBNPRBN · biological sewage plantDetegasaBiological plant for black water only, built for a reduced footprint. Blower and discharge pump items are the recurring lines, with dosing items where fitted; state PRBN rather than STPN, since the two treat different waste streams.
MBRMBR · membrane bioreactorDetegasaMembrane bioreactor plant for large crews: collecting, aerobic and membrane tanks, with submerged membranes that Detegasa names as Mitsubishi Rayon and automatic backflushing, and no chemicals needed for disinfection. Membrane modules, the recirculation pump and aeration items are the recurring lines.
IRAIRA · solid waste onlyDetegasaMarine incinerator designed to burn solid waste only. Diesel-oil burner items, exhaust gas fan and damper items, exhaust-gas thermocouples, refractory blocks and door and sluice seals are the recurring lines; the size follows the letters, as in IRA-10.
IRLAIRLA · solids and sludgeDetegasaIncinerator designed to burn solid waste and sludge, simultaneously where required. Next to the burner, fan, damper and refractory items it may carry Detegasa's optional sludge tank, whose heating, sludge circulation pump, level switches and safety valves form their own group of lines. Sizes are written as in IRLA-50.
DELTA IR-10DELTA · solid-waste incineratorDetegasaA DELTA solid-waste incinerator type from an older Detegasa specification: incinerator, diesel-oil burner and control panel on a baseplate, with the exhaust gas fan, regulating damper and exhaust-gas thermocouple supplied loose. The specification lists those loose items separately, so name them as separate lines.
OILCHIEFDVZ-FSU OILCHIEFDVZThe OILCHIEF plants are bilge water treatment units rather than centrifuges, and the items that are renewed are the coalescer and filter inserts, the oil content monitor parts, level probes and solenoid valves. Quote the unit type and serial, and send the type approval certificate held aboard with the request.
Oilmaster · DVZ 1000 VCOilmasterDVZThe Oilmaster designation appears with a figure and a letter group after it, and the letters carry the execution. Inserts, monitor cell and lamp items, gaskets and the automatic valve set are the recurring lines; the insert and the monitor are what an inspection looks at first.
3SEP3SEP · two-stageJOWAThe 3SEP is a two-stage bilge water separator working on differential specific gravity, coalescence plates and filtration, and it was offered in several sizes under one designation. State the size from the unit plate, because the insert and plate pack follow it rather than the family name.
SeaguardBilge alarm / oil content monitorJOWASeaguard is JOWA's bilge alarm and oil content monitor, sold both as part of a 3SEP installation and as a standalone retrofit. The measuring cell, sample line, seals and the alarm or display unit are the parts that wear; state whether the monitor is factory-fitted or retrofitted, since the mounting kit differs between them.
SMART BILGESMART BILGE · 15 ppm bilge alarmRivertraceThe Rivertrace bilge alarm type built for MEPC.107(49). Copy the type exactly as the rating label prints it, with any sign or letter after the name, and add the serial and the supply voltage. Any part for it, from the cell to a board, is matched to all three, not to the name alone.
SMART CELLSMART CELL · cell or whole monitorRivertraceThe name is met in two places. Rivertrace material uses it for the measuring cell of the SMART BILGE, while trader listings use Smart Cell or Smart Cell Bilge for a whole monitor. Say which item carries the name on your ship, the cell or the monitor housing, and photograph that label; the two lead to different lines.
OCD CMOCD CM · earlier bilge monitorRivertraceAn earlier Rivertrace monitor, built to MEPC.60(33), the resolution that MEPC.107(49) later superseded. OCD CM units are still met behind separators. A part for an OCD CM is never assumed to fit a SMART BILGE, or the other way round; each type is quoted from its own label.
SKIT/S-DEB · SKIT/S-DEB-SPSSKIT · suction typeRWOThe SKIT/S-DEB is the suction-type separator combining a coalescer with an emulsion-breaking absorber, and the type is out of production while units remain in service. The absorber and coalescer inserts, gaskets, level probes and the automatic discharge valve are the recurring lines, and the slash in the designation belongs in the request as written.
OWS-COMOil content monitorsRWOThe monitor is a separate item from the separator and fails separately, so it is worth naming on its own line. Measuring cell, lamp or light source, seals and the sample line items are what is renewed, and the certificate reference identifies which monitor build the plant was approved with.
CBM+Continuous bilge monitorRWOCBM+ is RWO's newer continuous bilge monitor, logging discharge data against GPS position rather than only reading oil content at the point of discharge. It sits alongside OWS-COM rather than replacing it on every installation, so confirm which monitor is actually fitted before quoting. Measuring cell, sample-line fittings, seals and the display or logger unit are the recurring lines.
PURELIOTwo-stage separator, current lineSasakuraPURELIO is Sasakura's current oily water separator, a two-stage unit with a second-stage coalescer designed to come out for servicing without pulling the plant off the vessel. Coalescer cartridges, filter inserts, gaskets and the monitor's measuring cell are the recurring lines. Confirm which generation is fitted — an older installation may still carry the generic bilge-separator nameplate rather than the PURELIO name.
US series 15 ppm bilge separatorTaiko separator line · US seriesTaiko KikaiCoalescer-type 15 ppm bilge separator: gravity stage, coalescing stage, oil-collecting space, level sensing and an automatic oil drain to the sludge tank. Rated throughput is read from the plate, because element sizing and cartridge count follow it. The series designation on the fitted unit is taken from the plate photograph rather than from the spares list.
USH series 15 ppm bilge separatorTaiko separator line · USH seriesTaiko KikaiThe same 15 ppm bilge discharge task under a second Taiko series designation. What the suffix encodes is confirmed against the maker's own literature for the fitted unit rather than inferred here, and rated throughput is again read from the plate because element sizing and cartridge count follow it.
OG120COG seriesTeamTecOG120C is the first size in TeamTec's OG range. Its burner, sludge dosage and combustion chamber items carry their own item numbers, so a part is never carried over from an OG200 or OG400 list on the strength of a similar name. The type and serial from the plate open the right list.
OG200C · OG200CS · OG200CWOG series · versionsTeamTecThe OG200 appears with several version suffixes, both in the maker's range and in parts listings elsewhere. The suffix belongs to the type and changes what is fitted on the unit, so each line is quoted against the full designation on the plate, never against the size number alone.
OG400C · OG400CS · OG400CW · OG400CSWOG series · versionsTeamTecThe OG400 shares its set of version suffixes with the OG200, so the same care applies to the letters. Its sludge dosage pump is a progressive cavity pump, and the stator, rotor, joints and pump seal are wear lines quoted against an OG400C next to burner and door items.
GS500C · GS500CS · GS500CSWGS series · versionsTeamTecThe GS500 is listed in more versions than any other GS model, so the suffix carries real weight here. Burner, sludge dosage, combustion chamber and flue gas fan items follow the same four assemblies as on the OG units, but with their own item numbers and sizes.
GS900CXGS seriesTeamTecGS900CX is the GS900 designation that the maker and independent parts listings spell the same way; other GS900 suffixes are written differently from one source to the next, so the plate decides. Sludge burner, dosage pump and refractory lines are read against the serial.

Measuring cell and calibration certificateCalibration and approvalDeckmaMEPC.107(49) leaves the accuracy check of a 15 ppm bilge alarm to the manufacturer or persons the manufacturer has empowered, and the certificate with the date of the last check stays on board. The same paragraph allows the alarm to be replaced by a calibrated one. Either way the request starts from the cell label and the certificate date.
Coalescer plates and filter insertsService itemsJOWAOn a two-stage plant the consumables are the coalescing plate pack and the second-stage filter insert, and they are renewed on different intervals. List them as separate lines, alongside the monitor parts and the solenoid valves, and note which discharge standard the plant is set for, since the insert differs between standards.
Calibration certificateCalibration and approvalRivertraceUnder paragraph 4.2.11 of MEPC.107(49), as rewritten by MEPC.285(70), the alarm is calibrated and tested only by the manufacturer or persons it has empowered, no more than five years apart, counted from commissioning, or sooner where the manufacturer's instructions set a shorter term. The certificate stays on board, and a calibrated alarm may be fitted instead. Paragraph 4.2.10 seals the alarm: opening it for anything past the simple drift, repeatability and zero checks means breaking a seal.
Bilge separatorCoalescer typeSasakuraThe bilge separator is built around coalescers and is a compact unit rather than a centrifuge. Coalescer and filter inserts, gaskets, the monitor parts and the automatic valve set are the items; no internal series numbering was confirmed for this line, so send the figures from the plate as written rather than matched to a scheme.
15 ppm bilge alarm and oil-content meterTaiko separator line · monitoringTaiko KikaiThe measuring cell, its optics or sensing window, and the alarm unit are identified in their own right on board, usually with a separate plate and a separate type approval certificate from the separator itself.
Solenoid and three-way valve groupTaiko separator line · control groupTaiko KikaiAutomatic oil discharge to the sludge tank, flushing-water admission where the arrangement includes it, and the overboard-or-recirculate decision run through this group. The automatic stopping device that returns flow to the bilge holding tank on a 15 ppm alarm sits here too. Coil voltage, port size and body material must be read from the fitted item, not inferred.

This list indicates coverage. It is not stock on hand and not a claim of affiliation with any manufacturer.

What to send

Send enough context to identify the plant and its monitor.

Part numbers are helpful, but the unit plate, the monitor plate, the approval paperwork and photographs can be enough to start cross-checking before supply routes are reviewed.

Separator RFQ FAQ

Short answers for technical buyers.

Can you quote an insert without a part number?

Yes, from the unit type and serial as written on the plate. Add which discharge standard the plant is set for: on a two-stage plant the second-stage insert differs between standards, and the size on the plate decides the plate pack rather than the family name.

Is the oil content monitor quoted with the separator?

It is worth naming on its own line. The monitor is a separate item that fails separately, and it is sold both as part of an installation and as a standalone retrofit — the mounting kit differs between the two, so say which one is fitted.

Which paperwork makes the request easier to answer?

The type approval certificate held aboard, and the certificate reference for the monitor. The reference identifies which monitor build the plant was approved with, which is what decides the measuring cell and the lamp items.

Can an alternative element be reviewed instead of the OEM part?

Only against the approval. An oily water separator is type-approved as an assembled arrangement, under an approval issued by the flag Administration or a recognised organisation acting for it, under the IMO resolution the unit was built against (MEPC.107(49) on later units, MEPC.60(33) on older installations), and recorded on the Type Approval Certificate. Coalescer elements, filter inserts and oil-content-meter cells should correspond to the configuration named in that approval, so a verified alternative is reviewed against the certificate reference rather than against the family name alone.

Can you handle time-critical oily water separator failures?

Yes. Add vessel / IMO, port, ETA and which discharge standard the plant is set for. This helps prioritize the supply route.

Is the separator feed pump part of an oily water separator spare parts request?

It is worth adding as its own group. The pump that delivers bilge water to the separator should handle the mixture gently, because a pump that shears it breaks the oil into finer droplets and makes separation harder. Its stator, rotor, joint parts and shaft seal, or the matching wear parts of another pump type, are quoted from the pump's own plate rather than from the separator's.

How should a marine OWS spares list be laid out?

By stage, in the order the water passes: feed pump, first-stage plate pack and oil discharge items, second-stage inserts, then the bilge alarm cell and the discharge valves. Each item on its own line, with the unit plate, the size and the discharge standard set, lets every stage be checked against the plant itself rather than against the family name.
