What a Miura designation is actually carrying with it
Sorted as they are quoted, because on this range the letters alone are only half the designation — a figure group or a suffix on the plate is the other half, and it is the half most often left off the request.
GK series
GK is Miura's marine composite boiler, a vertical water-tube design with an oil-fired burner side and a main-engine exhaust gas side, and the plate writes it as GK- followed by a four-figure group, such as GK-1428. Tubes and tube elements, refractory, burner head and ignition items, parts for the fixed air soot blowers, safety valves and gasket sets are the recurring lines, and the figure group belongs in the request as written.
HB · VWH series
HB and VWH are Miura's marine auxiliary boiler lines, listed by the maker as two separate products, each with its own designation range, such as HB-025, HB-08T and VWH-400. The HB-T models are listed with a steam-atomising burner and as suited to an inert gas system. Water level control parts, gauge glasses, burner items, feed pump wear parts and gaskets are what buyers enquire about, and the figures and any suffix go into the request as stamped.
VWK series
VWK does not appear in Miura's current published marine line-up, which lists GK, HB and VWH as its boilers, so a VWK plate cannot be checked against current maker literature. Send the plate exactly as stamped, suffix included, with the year of build, and the burner's own plate if the burner carries one.
A Miura plate carries figures and suffixes that belong in the request
Three series, and each of them attaches something to the letters that a request written from memory tends to drop.
GK is Miura's composite boiler line, and the plate writes it with a figure group after the letters rather than as GK alone; that figure group is what narrows a tube, refractory or burner line down to the right one, so it travels with the request rather than being summarised away. Miura builds GK as a vertical water-tube boiler with an oil-fired burner side and a main-engine exhaust gas side, the exhaust-side tubes arranged around the upper and lower drums, so the two sides are different tube and gasket scopes — the request should say which side a tube or gasket line is on. HB and VWH sit next to each other as the maker's marine auxiliary boiler lines, and they are separate designs, not two executions of one boiler under different names — a water level part, a gauge glass or a feed pump wear item is read against whichever of the two is actually fitted.
VWK is the odd one out: it does not appear in Miura's current published marine line-up, so a VWK plate cannot be checked against current maker literature and is quoted from the plate itself, suffix included, rather than from memory. The same care applies to letters after the figures on the current lines: Miura lists HB-T models with a steam-atomising burner and an HB-06DN with a newly developed dual-fuel burner, so a burner line is read against the full boiler designation, and against the burner's own plate where a replacement burner carries one.
What a Miura line resolves to
Grouped as the three series divide, because a GK tube line and a VWK burner line are not asking for the same kind of part.
- Tubes and tube elements for the GK composite boiler, and parts for the fixed air soot blowers Miura fits on its upper and lower tube plates
- Refractory sets quoted against the GK figure group named in the request
- Burner head and ignition items across the GK, HB and VWH ranges
- Safety valves, their springs and the sealed setting record
- Gasket sets for casings, access points and burner mountings
- Water level control parts and gauge glasses for HB and VWH
- Burner items specific to whichever of HB or VWH is actually fitted
- Feed pump wear parts for the HB and VWH auxiliary boilers
- Boiler-side items for VWK, read from the plate suffix
- Burner-side items for VWK, read from the separate burner plate where the burner is a bought-in unit
A VWK line frequently carries two plates' worth of information rather than one, and the request is only complete once both are sent. Broader boiler routing sits on the marine boiler sourcing guide.
The fields a Miura requisition tends to be missing
Written as an audit of the lines that come back for a second question rather than as a general checklist.
- The full series designation as marked, including the GK figure group or the VWK suffix
- Whether the unit is the GK composite boiler, a GK-G heat recovery unit on a generator engine exhaust, or one of the HB · VWH auxiliary boilers — Miura lists GK-G as a separate smoke-tube unit working alongside the composite boiler, not as a GK
- On a GK composite unit, which side a tube or gasket line concerns — fired or gas
- On a VWK, the burner make and its own plate where the burner is a separate unit
- Photographs of the boiler plate, and of the removed component from more than one angle
- Whether the item comes off the pressure part, the burner, or the water level and control group
- Class society, the date of the last boiler survey and the certificate requirement
- For a safety valve: the stamped setting and the maker of the valve fitted
- Vessel and IMO number, the port and the ETA
Tools for this equipment: the valve body marking reader for the size, class and material cast on a safety valve body, and the flange identifier for its flanges. For a steam boiler, the steam saturation calculator turns the gauge pressure into the saturation temperature of the steam. The blowdown calculator sets the blowdown against the boiler water limit, and the pipe heat loss calculator gives the heat lost from the steam lines, insulated or bare.
A boiler list splits between what a crew fits and what a surveyor accepts
A Miura line divides the same way most boiler lines do, and the divide does not follow the series letter.
Gaskets, gauge glasses, burner head items and ignition components are ordinary consumable and wear questions. Where a buyer's approval requirements allow it, a verified alternative route can be reviewed on lines of this kind, with dimensional data checked at RFQ stage. An OEM-route review can be requested on the same lines instead, or where class requirements call for it.
Tubes, tube elements, refractory and safety valves sit on the other side of the line: they are matched to the approved arrangement for the boiler rather than to a dimension alone, and a safety valve in particular is set on a rig, sealed and accepted against that arrangement before it goes back into service. Where a VWK burner is a bought-in unit, its own route is set against the burner maker's own designation rather than against Miura's. Vessel Core marks the proposed route against each line rather than assuming one route for the whole list.
Miura boiler parts — questions buyers ask
My GK plate has a group of figures after the letters. Do I need to send them?
Yes. GK is the composite boiler line, written with a figure group after the letters on the plate. Tubes and tube elements, refractory, burner head and ignition items, safety valves and gasket sets are the recurring lines, and the figure group belongs in the request as written.
Are HB and VWH two sizes of the same auxiliary boiler?
No. HB and VWH are the marine auxiliary boiler lines, and they are separate designs rather than executions of one. Water level control parts, gauge glasses, burner items, feed pump wear parts and gaskets are what buyers enquire about on these units.
What does the suffix on a VWK plate, such as VWK-M29, actually mean?
Miura's current published marine line-up lists GK, HB and VWH but not VWK, so the suffix cannot be decoded from maker literature here. Treat it as part of the identity all the same: send the plate exactly as stamped, suffix included, with the year of build, and the burner's own plate if the burner carries one.
Can a burner be quoted from the Miura boiler model alone?
Not always. Miura's current literature names the burner as part of the boiler model on its auxiliary boilers — the HB-T models are listed with a steam-atomising burner and the HB-06DN with a newly developed dual-fuel burner — so the full boiler designation, including any letters after the figures, is the starting point. Where a burner carries its own separate plate, as a replacement burner can, send that plate as well.
Is Vessel Core connected to Miura?
No, and there is no agreement of any kind. Vessel Core holds no dealership, distribution, representation or partnership agreement with Miura, and quoting a component against one of its series designations implies no approval by the maker and no claim of interchangeability.

Send the full series designation as marked (the GK figure group or the VWK suffix), plus the burner make and plate where it is a separate unit, and photographs of the boiler plate and the component. Vessel Core reviews the supply route and prepares a structured quotation.
