Autronica Fire Detection
Spare Parts Supplier
An Autronica fire detection system is a set of loops: addressed detectors, call points and sounders, each wired back to a panel. A replacement detector or base has to suit the panel generation, its software version and the base already on the deckhead, so every enquiry starts from those labels.
Autronica systems and loop units met on board
Autronica Fire and Security is based in Trondheim, Norway, and builds fire detection, gas detection and alarm systems for ships among other markets. Its part numbers begin with 116-, which helps to tell an Autronica label from other makers' units on the same deckhead. The cards run from the panels outwards to the units on the loop.
BS-420 · BC-420
The BS-420 fire alarm control panel is the main control panel of AutroSafe 4 and can also run a stand-alone system. The BC-420 is the controller of the same system, a separate unit that connects detection loops and input and output modules. Panel fronts, loop driver modules, input and output modules and power supply parts are the usual lines, each read against the panel label and the software version the panel shows.
BS-310 · BS-320
Fire alarm control panels of an earlier AutroSafe version, still met on board. Which of the two is fitted is read from the panel label, and a part for either is quoted from that label and its own parts list; nothing is carried over from the BS-420 line on an assumption.
Autroprime
Autroprime is the Autronica fire detection system for small-to-medium sized vessels. The panel recognises the detectors and other loop units connected to its loops by itself, so a replaced unit is identified by its label and by its place on the loop. Panel parts, loop units and bases are the usual lines.
BS-100
A fire detection system of an earlier Autronica generation, still met on older ships. Refits from BS-100 to AutroSafe 4 have kept many of the detectors and loops already installed and changed the panels, so the same ship may carry old loops under a new panel. The enquiry has to say whether the loops still run on the BS-100 panel or already under AutroSafe.
BDH · BHH detectors
Point detectors for AutroSafe and Autroprime loops carry BDH for heat and BHH for optical smoke and multisensor versions. The 300 and 500 series have SelfVerify, and suffixes such as /EX and /N mark versions for hazardous areas. The full type with every suffix comes from the detector label; a hazardous-area version is never quoted as a standard one.
AutroGuard Retro (/SPARE)
For AutroSafe detectors the maker now offers AutroGuard Retro variants: the original type with /SPARE added, so a BHH-300/SPARE stands for a BHH-300. They mount on the existing base, but only with panel software versions the maker lists and not in every kind of base. That is why the base label and the software version come before the price.
BWA-100 · BBR-130 · BBQ-130
The BWA-100 is the base under AutroSafe and Autroprime detector heads. The BBR-130 combines a detector base with an addressable sounder, and the BBQ-130 adds an alarm indicator to that sounder. A base or base sounder is quoted from its own label, and the detector above it is a separate line.
BG-201
AutroFlame flame detectors such as the BG-201 infrared detector sit on the same system, and the AutroSafe or Autroprime panel sets their performance mode. A flame detector is quoted from its own label and with the loop and address it holds, never as a substitute for a smoke or heat detector.
Autronica · MSA Safety
Autronica Fire and Security AS of Trondheim has been part of MSA Safety since July 2026. Labels and parts lists read Autronica, and the 116- part number on the label is the reference the quote is built on.
What turns an Autronica system into an enquiry
Most enquiries begin at the panel: a fault on one address, an alarm nobody can explain, or a module that has stopped. The panel message narrows the order more than the age of the ship does.
A fault on one address
When the panel reports a fault on a single address, the unit at that address is the usual order. Photograph the panel message with its loop and address, and the label of the detector that came off.
Alarms without a fire
Repeated alarms from one point are checked on board first: the place, the air flow and whether the detector type suits the room. If the detector itself proves to be the cause, the order is written from its label and its address.
A base that no longer holds or connects
A detector that sits loose, or a base damaged during work on the deckhead, turns the enquiry to the base. The label inside the base, and whether a sounder or indicator is built into it, decides the line.
A panel module or board that has failed
A dark display, a loop driver module in fault or a failed power supply moves the enquiry from the loop to the panel. The panel label, its software version and the module labels decide what can be quoted.
Parts for a BS-100 or an early AutroSafe panel
On an older system the first question is whether the part is still offered for that generation at all. When it cannot be found, the reply says so plainly and does not slip in a later unit that the ship has not chosen with the maker's documents.
Autronica fire detection parts we can quote
The list runs from the deckhead back to the panel. Every line is tied to one system family and one set of labels.
- Point detectors by full type and suffix: heat, optical smoke and multisensor
- AutroGuard Retro spare variants for AutroSafe detectors, where base and software version allow
- Detector bases, and bases with a built-in sounder or alarm indicator
- Manual call points and their glass or cover parts
- Sounders, alarm indicators and loop input and output units
- AutroFlame flame detectors and their mounting parts
- Panel fronts, controllers, loop driver modules and input and output modules
- Power supply modules and panel boards, from the panel's own parts list
- Loop interface parts where BS-100 loops were kept under an AutroSafe panel
What to send for an Autronica fire detection system
A fire detection enquiry is answered from labels and from the panel, not from a description of the ship. These items close the usual gaps before the first line is priced:
- The system family as shown on the panel: AutroSafe, Autroprime or BS-100
- A photograph of the panel label with type and part number, for example BS-420 or BC-420
- The software version the panel shows, photographed from its display or taken from the last service report
- The label of each detector on the order: full type with every suffix, and the 116- part number
- The base type from the label inside the base, and whether a sounder or indicator is built into it
- The loop and address of each unit being replaced, as the panel names them
- Whether the unit sits in a hazardous area, in a conduit box or in a ventilation duct adapter
- The fault or alarm text on the panel, photographed as it appears
- Any survey remark or service report behind the request
Supply route review for Autronica fire detection
A fire detection system protects the whole ship, so the review is narrow on purpose: the panel, the base and the label decide the line, and nothing is proposed that the system on board was not built with.
System before part number
AutroSafe, Autroprime and BS-100 lines are kept apart in the reply. A request that does not show the system family and the panel label is answered with a question first, not with a price.
Base and software version
A detector that suits one base and one panel version may not suit another. The base label and the software version are checked before any detector or Retro spare is quoted.
OEM-route only, no substitutes
Detectors, bases and panel parts are quoted on the OEM-route for the system named on the labels. No substitute detector, no other maker's unit and no part from another generation is put forward in their place.
Loop and address with every line
Each unit is quoted together with the loop and address it will take, so that the ship can match what arrives against the panel's own list of points.
Papers named up front
If the ship needs documents with the parts, for a survey or for its own files, say which ones. The reply states what each route can supply in writing and claims nothing beyond it.
Autronica fire detection — questions engineers ask
Can you offer a lower-cost alternative to an Autronica detector?
No. A fire detector is a safety device on the loop, so only the type on the label, or the spare variant the maker names for it, is quoted on the OEM-route. If neither can be found, the reply says so plainly rather than suggesting something else.
Our detector type no longer appears in the maker's lists. What can be quoted?
For AutroSafe detectors the maker offers AutroGuard Retro variants, marked with /SPARE after the original type. Whether one can go into your base depends on the base type and on the panel software version, so send both together with the detector label.
Can an AutroSafe detector go on a BS-100 loop, or the other way round?
Not on an assumption. Some BS-100 ships were refitted to AutroSafe while keeping many of their detectors and loops, so what a loop takes depends on the panel it now runs under. Send the panel label and say whether the loops are still on the BS-100 panel.
Autronica now belongs to MSA Safety. Does that change what we send?
Autronica Fire and Security has been part of MSA Safety since July 2026. Send the labels as they read; the type designation and the 116- part number are what the quote is built on.
Do you also handle gas detectors and oil mist detectors?
Yes, as separate enquiries. Gas detectors of other makers are read on the Dräger and Riken Keiki pages, and crankcase oil mist detectors on the Graviner page.
Is Vessel Core connected to Autronica?
No, and there is no agreement of any kind. Vessel Core holds no distribution, representation or partnership agreement with Autronica, and quoting a component against one of its designations implies no approval by the maker and no claim of interchangeability.
Start from the system family, the software version and the detector and base labels
A request that carries the panel label, the software version, the detector and base labels and the loop and address of each unit can be read against the right parts list from the outset. If only part of that is to hand, send what you have.
