Scanreco systems a deck machinery request can reference

Scanreco, founded in 1984 in Södertälje, Sweden, builds radio remote controls that machine builders fit to their equipment, and it notes that spare parts can also be bought from the builder of the machine. On ships and boats the maker names marine cranes, boat winches, hatch covers, yacht cranes and tugs, as well as barges, gangways and boat hoists. A request against any of the items below is read against the equipment the system controls rather than against the model name alone. Where the system works a crane on board, the weight shift list calculator gives the list a lift puts on the ship, with the GM taken from the stability booklet or the loading computer.

Radio remote control systems

RC 400

RC 400 does not appear in Scanreco's current range, which lists Micro, Mini and Maxi bellypack transmitters, Pocket, Rocket, Handy and OneGrip hand-held units, and G2 to G6 receivers. A unit labelled RC 400 is therefore identified from its serial number and paired to the receiver already fitted. Scanreco states that a lever or joystick can be replaced without sending in the transmitter, and that only its original batteries should be used; housings, levers, joysticks, membranes, battery packs and chargers are the recurring lines.

Receivers

G2 · G2B receivers

Scanreco's current G2 receivers drive hydraulic valves through proportional outputs, in a PWM or a voltage-regulated version, and also carry CANopen; the G2 PWM Extended adds further analogue outputs or functional safety relays. Purely digital and relay receivers are other families (G5 MOSFET and G5 Relay). G2B is not listed in the current range, so a G2B plate is sent with its serial number. State the output version and the valve it drives, because a receiver ordered on the model name alone can arrive with the wrong outputs.

Transmitters

Mini transmitters

The Mini is built as the Mini Lever, with levers, the Mini Joystick, with joysticks, and the Mini Flex, which mixes the two with a choice of other actuators, so two units called Mini can carry different controls. They also pair with different receivers: Scanreco lists the Mini Lever and Mini Joystick with the G2 and G3 receivers, and the Mini Flex with the G6 CAN. Photograph the front panel and the serial-number plate on the front and send both with the request.

The receiver, the interface and the front panel decide the part, not the type name alone. An RC 400 replacement is paired to the receiver already fitted, a G2 or G2B receiver is specified by its output type and the valve it drives, and a Mini transmitter is identified by its front-panel function count. State that detail alongside the model name before a part number is discussed.
Reading a Scanreco request

Same model name, different unit

None of the three items named here are read from the model name alone. An RC 400 replacement is paired to the receiver already fitted rather than ordered by model, because the system spans transmitter, receiver and the machine it drives, and a mismatch anywhere in that chain is what a replacement is checked against. A G2 or G2B receiver adds its own variable again: it is supplied with proportional or digital outputs and with a CAN interface, several receivers can be linked in a master and slave arrangement, and a receiver ordered on the model name alone can arrive with the wrong interface.

The same warning applies most strongly to the Mini transmitter. It is modular, supplied with linear levers or with joysticks and additional buttons and switches, so two transmitters sold under the same name can carry different controls. The function count, not the model name, is what identifies the unit, which is why a photograph of the front panel is asked for ahead of the rest of the request.

Pair the request to what the system already does, not to the model name: state the receiver fitted for an RC 400 line, the output type and driven valve for a G2 or G2B receiver, and send a front-panel photograph for a Mini transmitter so the function count can be read. That is enough to open the review.
Component scope

What is actually ordered off a Scanreco system

Grouped as the three items divide, because a transmitter line and a receiver line are read against different fitted equipment.

  • Transmitter housings, joysticks and levers for the RC 400 system
  • Membranes, battery packs and chargers for RC 400 transmitters
  • Receiver cards for the RC 400 system, paired to the receiver already fitted
  • G2 and G2B receivers, specified by the output version on the receiver label, PWM or voltage-regulated, and by serial number
  • Replacement levers and joysticks, which Scanreco says can be changed without sending in the transmitter, and original Scanreco battery packs
  • Mini transmitters with linear levers, or with joysticks and additional buttons and switches, according to the function count identified from the front panel

A receiver line is read against the output type and the valve it drives; a transmitter line is read against the front-panel function count, not against the model name alone.

Identification data

What a Scanreco request needs to state

Written around the fields that a Scanreco line most often arrives without.

  • The serial number (SN) from the sticker or plate Scanreco puts on every product: near the outputs on a receiver, on the metal plate at the front of a transmitter
  • For an RC 400 line, the receiver already fitted, since a replacement is paired to it rather than ordered by model
  • For a receiver, the version on its label, for example G2 PWM, G2 Voltage, G2 PWM Extended, G3 CAN or G5 Relay, since that version sets whether the outputs are proportional, digital, relay or CAN only
  • Which transmitter the receiver is paired with, since Scanreco pairs the Mini Lever, Mini Joystick, Maxi and Rocket with G2 or G3 receivers, and the Micro and Mini Flex with the G6 CAN
  • The valve the receiver drives
  • For a transmitter line, a photograph of the front panel showing the lever, joystick, button and switch layout
  • The function count read from that photograph, which is what identifies a Mini transmitter rather than the model name
  • The crane or deck machinery the system controls
  • Vessel and IMO number, the port and the ETA
The front panel identifies a Mini transmitter, not the name on it: two units sold as Mini transmitters can carry different levers, buttons and switches. The RFQ evidence guide covers what to photograph and attach.
Supply route

What the request is paired to decides the route

Housings, joysticks, levers, membranes, battery packs and chargers are ordinary wear items on the RC 400 transmitter side, read against the system already fitted. A receiver card, a complete G2 or G2B receiver, or a complete transmitter is read against a longer set of fields, because the interface, the output type and, on a transmitter, the exact control layout all have to match before a unit is confirmed to work with the equipment already on board.

Because none of the three items is fully identified by its model name alone, a route review on this equipment starts from what the request is paired to: the receiver already fitted for an RC 400 line, the valve driven for a G2 or G2B receiver, and the photographed front panel for a Mini transmitter.

Before you send the RFQ

Scanreco remote controls — questions buyers ask

Can I order an RC 400 replacement by model name alone?

Not reliably. The RC 400 systems are met on hydraulically driven cranes and deck machinery, and a replacement is paired to the receiver already fitted rather than simply ordered by model. Send the receiver detail along with the transmitter housing, joystick, lever, membrane, battery pack, charger or receiver card that is actually needed.

What do I need to send for a G2 or G2B receiver?

The version on the receiver's label, its serial number and the valve it drives. A G2 drives proportional outputs, as a PWM or voltage-regulated version with CANopen, while digital and relay outputs belong to the G5 family. A receiver ordered on the model name alone can arrive with the wrong outputs.

Two Mini transmitters look the same but have different buttons. Why?

Scanreco builds the Mini as the Mini Lever, the Mini Joystick and the Mini Flex, which mixes levers and joysticks with other actuators, so two units with the same name can have different controls. Photograph the front panel and the serial-number plate on the front of the transmitter and send both with the request.

Can a battery pack, charger or membrane be ordered without matching the whole system?

Largely, yes. Housings, joysticks, levers, membranes, battery packs and chargers are ordinary wear items on the RC 400 transmitter side, read against the system already fitted. A receiver card, a complete G2 or G2B receiver or a complete transmitter is read against a longer set of fields, because the interface, the output type and, on a transmitter, the exact control layout all have to match the equipment on board.

Is Vessel Core connected to Scanreco?

No, and there is no agreement of any kind. Vessel Core holds no dealership, distribution, representation or partnership agreement with Scanreco, and quoting a component against the RC 400, G2, G2B or Mini designations implies no approval by the maker.

The RC 400, G2, G2B and Mini designations are printed here in full because a request naming only the model, without the receiver, output type or front-panel detail, is easily mismatched to the wrong unit. Vessel Core holds no dealership, distribution, representation or partnership agreement with Scanreco or any other manufacturer named on this page, and does not present itself as holding one. Scanreco is a trademark of its owner. The designations are used here for identification only; quoting a component against any of them implies no approval by the maker, no interchangeability and no commercial relationship of any kind.
